Insulated Table Runner

I found this nifty stuff at the local fabric store- a place I love to go and get lost in often- and it's what is used to insulate oven mitts and pot holders so you don't burn your fingerprints off. I wanted to make something for my dining room table that was insulated and pretty and long that I could lay down and put hot dishes on instead of the ugly brown cork trivets I have. I'll post pics once I get the project done, but I find that if I write about it here, I'm more likely to get it done in a timely manner. Hey- with a bustling household, 2 young children, and a hubby, I'm a busy girl! Anywho- I'll be back with pics- I'm excited!!

UPDATE- I finished the table runner yesterday. It was a pain in the rear so I didn't take pics of the process. I think when my mom sees it, she'll want one too so I'll take pics of that one...maybe. My first one is always the test piece because I know I'll probably screw it up somewhere (enter yoga bags which have been evolving nicely...) Below are the pics of the table runner- I'll let you know how it works once I put something hot on it. I like how it matches the rest of the house (in the last picture you can see the color in the kitchen-perfect!)

HaPpY bIrThDaY tO mE!!!!!

So I'm approaching the big 32- a number that's much more daunting then 31- but I'm ok with that. For my birthday I was lusting after an embroidery program for my beloved machine and my wonderful hubby delivered! He let me pick it up a little early (my b-day is on the 29th, I got the program last week.) I've been having fun playing with it and I'm so excited that I'm finally able to do what I've always wanted to do- combine fonts, play with embroidery designs, design appliques...I'm a nerd, but I'm ok with that. I've made a few things so far with my new gift and I have tons planned- I just need a surface to embroider it on! My husband and I joked that I was going to take all of his work pants and embroider "juicy" across the bottom. Quite a visual, I know. Anyway- I'll post my creations as soon as I take pictures of them. They include appliqued shirts for the girlies, monogrammed bookmarks for 3 of my good friends, and an appliqued ballet leotard that got a stain on the front (I needed to cover it somehow!) On my list of things to create include a monogrammed yoga bag, appliqued shirts for my friends little girls, cup liners for sippy cups, among anything else I can get my hands on. It's a sickness, I tell you. But I'm ok with that.

MAYHEM!

I'm here! My first MishMosh post and I have a feeling that this blog will reflect our name...it's gonna be CrAzY--it's gonna be NUTS--it's gonna be MAYHEM!!! Ok- so maybe not- but it's going to definitely be a mish mosh of topics. Kaitlin is currently loving her new camera so I'm assuming you'll see lots of great photo posts by her. From me, this site is really a placeholder for my SoMeDaY crafts- having 2 girlies who are 5 and 2 1/2, being involved in my church's woman's ministry, helping head up a local MOPS group, and of course being a wife and friend, I'm a busy girl with an obsession with trying new crafty endeavors. I love the site http://www.oneprettything.com/ and I check it daily (ok- so maybe 3 times a day...OK! 5 times a day (at least) - but that's all I'm going to admit to...) I am constantly inspired by the creativity I see on there and I can get lost for a long time reading the blogs featured and blogs from those blogs...I found that there were a lot of things I wanted to make but I needed to keep track of it all so enter this blog. I'll be posting my SoMeDaY crafts here and then posting my progress and pictures as I complete items off my list. Check our etsy site often- you might see some of my creations there for sale! Enjoy!
